Alumni Play for the Brockville Tikis

Tikis Lose Penalty Filled Affair
February 6th, 2010

It was a game that meant nothing in the standings to both teams. What it should have meant to the Tikis was a game in which they gathered momentum for the playoffs. Instead it turned into a very chippy and sloppily played game.

There were a total of 169 PIM's called in the game with Brockville recieving 87 PIM's.

Brockville led 1-0 after the 1st period on a goal from Shane Melcher (Ethan Robert, Robert Rice). Only 1 penalty was called in the 1st period and that was a interference call to the Rangers.

In the 2nd period the teams traded goals. Matt Morgia tied the score, when he scored shorthanded. Brett Jackson (Ethan Thomson, Steve joudoin) sent the Tikis into the lead again. Things started to turn chippy at the 5 minute mark of the 2nd period and carried over into the 3rd period.

Already hit with some injuries, the Tikis found themselves even more shorthanded as Alex Bouchey, Brett Jackson, Robbie Thomson and Brayden Krusch were sent to the dressing room for fighting and Steve Allan for recieving a GM for a major crosscheck.

South Grenville scored 2 goals in the 3rd period to take the lead and held on for the final 8 minutes of the game to seal the victory. The 1st South Grenville goal was scored on on breakaway (Matt Morgia) after the Tikis defence failed to cover a South Grenville player coming out of the penalty box.  The winning goal was scored by Kristian Knapp on a powerplay.

The Tikis outshot the Rangers 34 to 24 in the game.

The Tikis had affiliate player Brody Darling of the Brockville Major Midget B Warriors in their lineup.
